When we talk about sweet salami everyone thinks of the classic chocolate salami, so much so that it has been officially included in the list of traditional Italian food products of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy. In fact, we find it in the cookbooks of Italy from Piedmont to Sicily with few variations. Sweet salami is so famous that it was even featured in Granny Duck's Handbook, published in the 1970s. There the chocolate salami is called Viking salami. According to "Granny Duck," when traveling by sea, the Vikings liked to display alternating black and yellow shields on the sides of their ships, somewhat like slices of our beloved sweet salami. Other traditions, however, call it Turkish salami because it resembles the skin color of the Moors.
Have you ever thought of making a different sweet salami than usual? A salami that more than the Moors may remind one of Martians, or merry little snakes! And that once cut it looks like a lawn with lots of the little flowers? To find such a salami you have to go through Bronte, where pistachios can reinvent even the most classic recipes! Below we present the version of our friend and food blogger Cristina Marras of Tutto fa brodo, who decided to use our Pistachio Cream for her creation.
A typical dessert, with a few different ingredients, such as Pistachio Cream, can be really original to bring to a dinner with friends or a party!
